The hours that a coach driver can work are strictly controlled by law. The legislation is very complex, but you may find it helpful to know that a driver can only drive for a maximum of 4.5 hours. After that period they must take a break of at least 45 minutes. The driver can then drive for a further 4.5 hours.

The maximum that a driver can drive is 9 hours in any 24 hour period. This can be extended to 10 hours twice a week.
